Eligibility for Awards and Master Points
| 1. | Eligibility for Awards In Knockout Teams | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In
            order to be eligible to receive master points for the rounds of 64,
            32, and 16, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final/play off a player
            must have played at least one third of the boards played in all stages
            of the competition.  In Montreal this regulation was amended as follows: Each member of 5 or 6 player teams must play at least one segment -16 boards- in every round of the knock-out to get World Master Points or the Title.  |

|   According to the WBF Master Points Plan, the following scale of Master Points applies for the Knockout Teams:

        1.CHANGED TITLE: - World Master - 150 MPs this title is now for life and
        will not be removed.
        
        2. NEW TITLE: - World International Master - 350 MPs this title is for
        life and will not be removed.
        
        3. CHANGED EVENT: - World Year Points to be awarded to the World Wide
        Bridge Contest
        
        4. AND: Deceased Players will have their records kept but will not appear
        in the rankings
        
        These changes take effect from the start of this current World Master
        Points year which started at the beginning of the World Championships
        in Montreal in 2002.
